Albanian Dance Workshop and Culture Corner
with Genci Kastrati

2–4pm EDT

online via Zoom

You can purchase music and videos for this presentation in our shop.

About the Program

Genci will be presenting Albanian dances to keep us moving, as well as enlightening us with the culture and folklore of the region! It's sure to be a fascinating and fun-filled afternoon.

Women's styling for some of Genci's dances includes a lightweight scarf or hankie held in each hand, so you may want to have some available to you during the workshop. Genci will demonstrate the traditional handholds for the scarves in different regions of Albania

About Genci

Genci Kastrati, teacher at the Art Academy & the Academy of Sports, studied historical dancing, the Albanian equivalent of folk dance, at the Academy of Fine Arts. By that time he was already a solo dancer at the National Ensemble, and also became choreographer for the ensemble and presented his first complete concert in 2008.

He is a member of the scientific council of the National Centre for Non-material Culture, and is occasionally involved in teaching with amateur groups. He has been teaching workshops in Germany, Italy, Sweden, Switzerland, and the Netherlands since 2010.
