About the Party

FAC’s online Saturday afternoon workshop will be an all-live music dance party with live music by Orkestar Banitsa. The dance leaders for the afternoon will be: Janet Yeracaris, Henry Goldberg, and Tom Roby.

About Orkestar Banitsa

Orkestar Banitsa is a folk dance band specializing in music of the Balkans, including Bulgaria, Serbia, Macedonia, Croatia, and Greece. It features Becky Ashenden on accordion, vocals and percussion, Barbara Blumenthal on tambura, Joe Blumenthal on bass, Addie Rose Holland on clarinet and vocals, and Gawain Thomas on accordion.

They have played for dance parties in New England and upstate New York, and have regularly played at FACONE's Balkan Music Night in Concord, and in 2017 were the featured band at Oktoberfest. Their repertoire includes dozens of folk dance favorites in addition to unusual and interesting medleys and some original tunes in the Balkan style.
