About the Folk Arts Center of New England

The Folk Arts Center of New England is an incorporated nonprofit educational organization whose mission is to promote interest and participation in the traditional dance, music, and related folk arts of many cultures, and to support other groups and individuals with the same mission.

Founded by Conny Taylor and Marianne Taylor in 1975, FAC sponsors weekly and monthly community folk dances, annual camps, a music club, workshops, and other special events. FAC dance leaders and musicians provide cultural programs in schools and community settings. See FAC programs.

The Folk Arts Center's 500-plus members are people of all ages and backgrounds, singles, couples, and families. FAC members and friends provide financial support and volunteer services that sustain the organization.

The Folk Arts Center provides resource and referral services for traditional dance and music communities in New England and beyond.

The Little Shop of Horas®, FAC's retail music store located at the Stoneham, Massachusetts office and online, offers a large selection of traditional music recordings, videos, and books.

FAC has been a recipient of grants from the Massachusetts Cultural Council, the City of Boston, the Arlington Cultural Council, the Cambridge Arts Council, the Lexington Council for the Arts, the Melrose Cultural Council, and other funding agencies.
