Fiscal Sponsorship

The Folk Arts Center may act as the fiscal sponsor of individuals and groups, such as Mladost Folk Ensemble, whose activities are related to FAC’s mission. Fiscal sponsorship is a contractual arrangement that provides the sponsored individual or group with the benefits of FAC’s tax-exempt status and administrative support. Conflict Calendar

The FAC office maintains a master schedule of regional folk dance community events for several years ahead. Area folk events sponsors are encouraged to consult the online read-only Conflict Calendar when planning special events. Please contact us to add your events.

Little Shop of Horas® music shop

FAC’s retail music shop is available online, at the office, by mail, by phone, and on the road at various folk events. FAC offers a large inventory of traditional music recordings and videos. The shop also stocks sheet music, dance syllabi, and books. The Little Shop of Horas® web page links to our online Music Shop’s CD, video, book selections, and workshop materials, searchable by nationality or type of dance or music; you can place an order and pay online by PayPal, Venmo, or check.

Dance syllabi and recorded music archives

Workshop materials, including recordings of many of the SOFA series presentations, are available in The Little Shop of Horas®. The FAC office also houses an organized collection of thousands of folk dance syllabi, sorted by name of dance, formation, nationality, global region, and teacher. FAC also has a large assortment of folk dance records and cassettes not yet catalogued.

The Folk Arts Center of New England’s co-founders Conny and Marianne Taylor started their first weekly international folk dance series on Wednesdays in July 1955 at the Cambridge YWCA’s Hannum Hall in Central Square. The series switched to Thursdays the following year, then added Fridays in 1960.
