Salads From What You Have with Barbara Model
Part of our Thursday evening SOFA Series presentations, find the program listings online.
About the Presentation
When you’re stuck at home in a pandemic, or your car’s in the shop, or the weather’s too lousy to go out for groceries, you can still have an interesting salad. Your refrigerator probably has more salad possibilities than you’ve considered.
Professional caterer Barbara Model will demonstrate salad ideas that are about more than leafy greens and farmer’s market produce. Topics include: What makes a salad a salad? Knife skills for cutting veggies to complement their taste, being creative with what’s on hand, and making your own salad dressing.
About Barbara
Barbara Model is known to those attending the FAC Pinewoods sessions and Oktoberfest parties for making pretty food. She says “I’ve been cooking since I was five years old and could reach the stove. I worked many years writing marketing and sales training materials for food-related companies, and then got a master’s degree in nutrition, which gave me official permission to cook for a living. After that friends started calling with catering gigs and referrals. Now more than 20 years later, I keep failing to say no to friends.”
