About the Presentation
In this online session with the members of Zdravets, we explore some of the instruments, personal histories that led members into playing this kind of music, growing zdravets (the plant) at home, and much more. Where do they find new songs and tunes? And audience questions.
About Zrdavets
Zdravets, aka “Boston’s friendly neighborhood Bulgarian band,” has been performing traditional music from Bulgaria (and some of her neighbors) since 1989. Band members play a variety of instruments, mostly traditional, but also some modern instruments. Zdravets brings you the whole gamut – instrumental music, unaccompanied voices, and the full ensemble combining instruments with voices!
About the group’s name
zdravets is a wild mountain geranium whose aromatic leaves stay fresh and green all winter. Zdravets is beloved by Bulgarians, to whom it symbolizes all that is healthy and long-lasting.
