1914 Lowell Tango Trial

May 30 • online • 7pm

It was a scandal! It rocked the Edwardian Era sensitivities! And it happened right here in our very own back yard.

What was this unseemly behavior, that was so unnerving that newspapers from across the country covered the tawdry goings-on in Eastern Massachusetts?

It was the 1914 Lowell Tango Trial, and this Thursday night Ruth Evans will regale us with the sordid details she has uncovered in her research on the dance floor tempest this Thursday night at the season's final SOFA presentation. It certainly will be a presentation not to be missed!

Friday Night Folk Dancing

May 31 • Arlington, MA • 8pm

There are three more Friday night dances in Arlington Heights before taking a break for the summer, and what a great finale run we have for you!

May 31: Your requests and my dance picks as we dance and laugh our way through the evening.

June 7: Romanian Night with Tom Pixton and the Pinewoods Band! All Romanian, all night long!!

June 14: The Cambridge Folk Orchestra (CFO) returns! After a triumphant dance event at NEFFA last month, they are ready to play again for dancers who know and love them, and for folks who have not yet had the pleasure.

Three is a very lucky number, associated as it is with Jupiter, which is known for wisdom. So it would be quite wise of you to plan to come to all three evenings!

Mostly Waltz

June 2 • Concord, MA • 2pm

The last Mostly Waltz dance of the season is coming up on Sunday, with fabulous music by Becky Tracy and Keith Murphy.

Tom Roby and Diane Gonzales will teach Schottis/Scottish at the pre-dance lesson at 2pm. Schottis is a fun and easy turning dance with pivots that we always play at Mostly Waltz, while Scottish is the French balfolk version of the same dance, done on the spot with figures that can be lead/followed. Come join us!!
