Dancing This Week

Monthly Dance Party (Hybrid)

with 99 Goat Balloons

You're invited to a big birthday bash at the Monthly Dance Party on May 20, where you can dance the night away to the music of 99 Goat Balloons. Our programmer for the evening will be the inestimable Janet Baker.

Our sponsors for the evening, Carl Lazarus, Sue Rose, and David Skidmore, are celebrating milestone birthdays, and, thanks to their generous support, admission is free!

As always, donations to support FAC's programming will be gratefully accepted. Donations of refreshments are also welcome; please contact Sue for details.

Zoom admission can be obtained through our shop.

We hope you can join us in person in Belmont or online.

Thursday Night Dance

Review: Mahala Mori Shej and Tinka

This week our programmer will be Sue Rose; she will review Mahala Mori Shej, a Roma/Hungarian dance introduced by Steve and Susie Kotansky. Continuing the mini-theme, Paula Rosenstock will review Steve's arrangement of the Macedonian dance Tinka.

Upcoming dances: June 1, June 15 (live music with The Goats!). Stay tuned for summer dates!

Mostly Waltz Season Finale

with Rachel Bell, Susan Kevra, and Jacqueline Schwab!

We're closing out the Mostly Waltz season with a French bal folk-inspired party. The dancing will be accompanied by a trio of fantastic musicians: Rachel Bell, Susan Kevra, and Jacqueline Schwab!

The dance lesson will feature some French balfolk couple dances, including mazurka, bourrée, and maybe a five-count waltz.

Masks will be optional for this dance.

From the Executive Director

Buddy, Can You Spare a Rhyme?

You know it's Tough Times when you don't have a clue

About what to write, and even bad ideas are few.

When a dressy field of sunflowers fails to jumpstart

The rhyming process and one begins to lose heart.

Gazing out the window with a despondent air.

Looking at the May sunshine, feeling naught but despair.

Oh! A poet's heart can be bleak, a fallow field to be sure,

Until a creative surge dispels all the rancor.

However, on this day, with the deadline long past,

I must toss in the towel, despite feeling aghast.

I'll blame seasonal allergies (although I have none)

And make this the last sentence - finis! It is done.
