Upcoming Dances

Friday Night Dance

Music: All Girl Band

Join the All Girl Band and Marcie Van Cleave as together we create an evening of music and dance full of resplendency!

There is a band color theme, which we are all welcome to augment with our own sartorial selections. I'll give you a hint: this color represents, among other things, creativity, wisdom, grandeur, pride, and magic.

It is also associated with royalty!

I hope you will join us--and add your own elements of purple pizazz to the fun!

Monthly Dance Party

Music: 99 Goat Balloons

Dance with us at the Monthly Dance Party next Saturday, May 20, and move to the music of 99 Goat Balloons.

We're celebrating milestone birthdays this month for Carl Lazarus, Sue Rose, and David Skidmore!

Thanks to their generous sponsorship, admission is free (but donations to support FAC's programming are gratefully accepted) and you can join us in person in Belmont or on Zoom.

Mostly Waltz

Join us on Sunday, May 21, for the finale of the 2022-2023 season!

We're having a French balfolk inspired party, with a trio of fantastic musicians: Rachel Bell, Susan Kevra, and Jacqueline Schwab!

For the dance lesson from 2-3, we'll work on some French balfolk couple dances, including mazurka, bourree, and maybe a five-count waltz.

Note that masks will be optional for this dance. The hall has great ventilation!

June International Sessions at Pinewoods

A little bit of this and that regarding our return to Pinewoods next month:

• Our end-of-June international sessions at Pinewoods are fast approaching -- if you have not yet registered, now would definitely be the time to do so!

• Regarding registration, there is space in the FolkDays, and we are maintaining a waitlist for the Weekend. It is always worth registering, even on "standby", as a waitlist can disappear quite quickly the closer we get to camp.

• Emails with balance dues will be going out soon!

• The Pinewoods Camp Covid policy, that FAC is adhering to, will be posted on the FAC June Pinewoods webpage by early next week. It is important to note that this policy is subject to change as the Covid situation evolves.

• A few key words to remember: friends ... dancing ... mélange of meals ... swimming ... laughing ... singing ... napping ... camaraderie ... memories ...

See you there?

A Public Service Announcement!

My email situation makes my hair stand on end,

I can't control where it goes after I blithely press send!

People write me and worry "I haven't heard from you"

Then I furrow my brow and think "that isn't true!"

At which point the lightbulb goes off and I think to suggest

Check your spam folder, (as I get increasingly incensed).

Not at you - not at all - but at today's Trojan Horse:

Electronic messaging is my reference, of course.

It's a blessing on one side and the flip side's a curse

You think your job's done, but it's really the adverse.

Thus the picture in this section, as I comes full circle

At least I didn't into the ocean my Luddite self hurtle!
