Description
Celtic Lamentations: Healing Music for Twelve Months and a Day. Áine Minogue with Alasdair Halliday, Baird Hersey, Randy Roos (2005)
All over the world, traditional wisdom sets aside “a year and day” for us to walk the healing steps from loss to acceptance. In her own life, Áine Minogue recently turned to her beloved music collection for consolation, but found nothing that really touched her grief. With Celtic Lamentations, she has created the music she wanted to hear during that time. Here, she offers you a “companion in music”-eleven songs that carry the power of Celtic music to help us return to everyday life. Meant to be heard often, this inspired sequence includes Celtic keening—an improvisational ode to the women of yore who carried the grief for their entire communities, “Deus Meus”—a fusion of Latin and Gaelic healing music, a moving interpretation of the classic “Carolan’s Farewell to Music,” the uplifting “Awakening,” and other original compositions.
