FAC presents monthly sessions in Celtic and international folk music for all instruments. The sessions are led by expert musicians and are open to instrumentalists of all levels. Some sessions include or feature singing.
Jam sessions Wednesday schedule, 2009–2010:
September 30 (a fifth Wednesday) – Balkan music, led by Barbara Pixton
October 28 – Klezmer music, led by Steve Rauch
November and December – No sessions. Happy holidays!
January 27 – Scottish music, led by Barbara McOwen
February 24 – Old-Time music, led by Cathy Mason
March 24 – Irish music, led by Michael O’Leary
April 28 – Middle Eastern drumming, led by George Kirby
NOTE: In addition to the drums that participants bring, there are some doumbeks for everyone to try. Empty five-gallon plastic water bottles may be substituted for drums. Musicians who are familiar with basic Middle Eastern styles and rhythms are welcome to come and play the melodies on other instruments.
