Born in Bucharest, Daniel Sandu began performing Romanian dance at age six with the Romanasul children’s troupe. He danced professionally for sixteen years, first with Rapsodia Romana in Bucharest and then with Het Internationaal Danstheater in Amsterdam. In 2003 he graduated from the Dance Academy of Rotterdam with a bachelor’s degree in dance education and a specialty in tap dance. Since then he has worked full-time teaching recreational and professional dancing in the Netherlands and elsewhere in Europe, in the USA, and in Asia.
Daniel teaches Romanian and Romani dance with an emphasis on rhythm, self-expession and improvisation. FAC is pleased to introduce Daniel to New England. He will be a special guest teacher at the FAC Friday dance on the night before his September 15 workshops.
Daniel is a patient teacher who explains well and has a good way of building one ability on another. --Andy Taylor-Blenis
