The Folk Arts Center is pleased to welcome back instructor Lee Otterholt for afternoon workshops in dances from the Balkans and beyond. Lee’s teaching emphasizes style, not just “getting the steps.” He also tries to bring improvisation, self-expression, and spontaneity back into the folk dance traditions where these elements are a central part of the tradition. Lee has introduced to us the popular dances Çobankat, Paraliakós, and Krivatvorena.

The afternoon workshops are followed by FAC’s monthly Saturday party at the same location, 8–11 pm, featuring international folk dancing for all with music by the Cambridge Folk Orchestra. Lee will review his workshop dances at the party.
