Folk dancing by the Charles, 3–4:30 pm
On the riverbank by the Charles at the Weeks Footbridge, Memorial Drive, Cambridge, MA
Admission: FREE
As part of its second annual Sunday Parkland Games series, designed to inspire residents of Boston, Cambridge, and surrounding areas to spend time outdoors and utilize the Charles River Parklands, the Charles River Conservancy is sponsoring two sessions of free international folk dancing instruction. All ages and abilities are welcome, and no previous dance experience is necessary.

The MIT Folk Dance Club and the MIT Armenian Society present Armenian singing and dance workshops with renowned leader Tom Bozigian. Tom will lead and review dances at the international folk dance party that evening, 8–11 pm in Lobdell Dining Hall, MIT’s Student Center, second floor.

The annual American Folk Festival on the Bangor Waterfront presents music and dance from the many cultures that make up America today, plus traditional craft demonstrations and exhibits, a folk art and craft marketplace, food vendors, and children’s activities.

18th Annual New World Festival, noon–midnight

Tickets $30 in advance, $35 at the gate, $20 after 6 pm • students (aged 13–18) $10 • children (aged 2–12) $5; half-day adult tickets after 6 pm $20
The New World Festival presents Celtic and French Canadian music and dance, performed on five stages simultaneously in historic Chandler Music Hall and in other all-weather facilities (the Chandler Center, Bethany Congregational Church, and a colorful complex of walled tents). About 100 musicians and folk dancers from Northern New England, Canada, and the British Isles perform. Also featured are vendors of food, brews, and crafts.

The Armenian Cultural and Educational Center presents Boston-Kermesse 2010: One Town – One Tent, a family-oriented outdoor weekend festival showcasing the historical, cultural, artistic, and culinary treasures of the Armenian community. The entertainment lineup includes Armenchick, the John Berberian Ensemble featuring Onnik Dinkjian, and the Arev Armenian Folk Ensemble.
